0 … What the hell had happened to them + to HER “good-man-in- the-storm-ballony“? Shouldn‘t SHE be here every day try‘ng to fix it? SHE‘d hurt her + now SHE was too much of a coward to even face her apparently, you know, as if SHE‘s running away Or wasn‘t it like that at all? Could it ever be enough to say that one was sorry? She really didn‘t think so, ‘cause, it was not enough, just ‘cause SHE‘d said SHE was sorry She‘d taken a vow + she‘s not prepared to walk away from that, always having lived by the rule that if things got hard, she‘d have to work harder Would she find it in her heart to forgive HER? + why would she do it? Did she really believe that they were stronger than one mistake? Would she be looking back at all of this one day, realizing that it all had only truly got started after that one mistake? Well, she knew that things between them might not work out, you know, + that they might not be able to fix it, but how on earth would she know if she never tried? SHE had done something impulsive + SHE‘d been thinking about HERSELF It‘d seemed right at the time, + SHE‘d made a mistake, like, one mistake, + she had done something like that when she‘d kicked HER out, her being the one to make the choice that they would split up (In her mind it was as if, for the longest time, she‘d found herself, like, keeping pressing the on-button, forgetting that she‘d removed the batteries, watching her urge decreasing naturally, kind of, as it would have taken extra effort to sort things out + she‘d just got tired, ready to throw the towel in) She figured she had something to ask – which SHE‘d probably take some time to think about (which was ok ‘cause she did not need, or even want, an answer right away) – she just wanted to know if SHE was going to come home again, like, ever, eventually… (CMH)
